We realised that less than a quarter of Singaporeans do their shopping on the Net because they're afraid of giving out credit card details online.
Well, I can safely say that these guys don't know what they're missing.

We are big fans of shopping online.
The only fear is that our pay cheque can't keep up with the spendings.

I'm sorry, but Singapore isn't a shopping paradise, despite all we've been told. The real shopping paradise is cyberspace. It's the best mall ever existed.

The best thing about the World Wide Web mall is that you can find so many things out there that you could not possibly get in a shopping mall - assuming you had the time and inclination to go looking for them here.

We do have cyberstore too.
Take Metro, for example. It has an online presence for which it should be proud of. But a fast check on the men's section at the online store reveals that you can get two sorts of goods there - accessories and underwear.

At Amazon's men's section, by contrast, you can get everything from T-shirts to suits, and brands from Adidas to Land's End. And, yes, underwear too.

This is where local online retail store needs to improve.
At papaStore, we try to provide you with that wide variety of unique items.
So you could shop online "locally".

However, we need local and overseas suppliers to support papaStore in order for it to be a success.
We also need the support of online shoppers, for about 75 per cent of Internet users here who don't want to venture out into the malls in cyberspace.

I remebered a comment by critics that while the Koreans are watching soap operas and buying just about everything else online, we're using the Internet to pass on dumb jokes and chat with each other across the room on Internet Messenger.

It says a lot about the way how the locals support the Singapore online retailers.
